10.31.08 :: The students at the Leakie Elementary School in Southwest D.C. held their first mini-walk to support the Coalition as a part of Fannie Mae’s 21th Annual Help the Homeless Walkathon (HtH). Leakie Elementary School’s walk raise $2,000 to support the work of the Coalition. Councilmember Muriel Bowser (Ward 4), the Coalition for the Homeless and the community celebrate the opening of the new home of the La Casa Transitional Rehabilitation Program at 1131 Spring Road, NW. La Casa TRP provides temporary residential services for homeless men to help them to achieve self sufficiency.

The Coalition is looking for walkers to support the organization’s fund raising efforts at Fannie Mae's 22 nd annual “Help the Homeless Walkathon on Saturday November 21, 2009 at the National Mall.” This is the country’s largest walkathon to raise awareness and funds for homeless services.

Your tax deductible registration fee is $15 for youth (25 and under) and $25 for adults (26 and older).

The Coalition’s Designated Agency Code # is DC021.

How to register for the Homeless the Homeless Walkathon

- Go to: www.helpthehomelessdc.org
- Click on “Register” and then “Join a Team”
- Select the Coalition for the Homeless-DC as your team
- Select Coalition for the Homeless-DC021 as the beneficiary
